Withington Baths & Leisure Centre: Opinions
Fantastic experience: I visit this gym at least 3 times a week now. The facilities are fantastic in relation to the membership charge. I mainly attend classes - most of which are taken by Michelle. She is tough but she sure makes sure you've had a thorough work out. I would recommend signing up for one of the Insanity classes - that is if you can get on to one as they are proving to be hugely popular!
Fantastic experience: Great gym, great price
Fantastic experience: Love it. Please don’t come.
Fantastic experience: Very special community pool and gym
Fantastic experience: A community-led charity, restoring the building back to its former glory as well as being a fully functioning leisure centre and co-working space
Fantastic experience: Historic building and original Victorian pool . Very friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: Been coming here since I was a child. Really helpful, friendly staff and a great community resource.
Fantastic experience: Amazing Edwardian pool slightly small bu lush water and a stellar sauna.
Fantastic experience: Took my grandson swimming, which he loves. The building is currently undergoing repairs and hopefully it will improve the indoor facilities which are limited at the moment.
Fantastic experience: Positive: Communication , Professionalism , Quality Great community centre with decent facilities. It is very reasonably priced and has an excellent range of classes, would highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: Love this place one of the last remaining Edwardian swimming baths left in Manchester ran by the community of Withington. Has a pool, gym and sauna not to mention plenty of classes too
Fantastic experience: Excellent community swimming pool. Small but beautiful and reasonably priced. Lockers take £1 coins and there is parking round the back.
Fantastic experience: A great facility being carefully restored to represent its era.
Fantastic experience: Good price and nice place. Doesn’t feel like a regular gym. More relax atmosphere and cool building.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful building, friendly staff, very warm pool and free parking! I love this place ❤️
Fantastic experience: Beautiful Victorian baths, well suited to those of any age, great teachers and a well funded gym.
Fantastic experience: This is a well run centre! Friendly staff, good facilities and a community atmosphere. Would reccomend
Fantastic experience: I took my 8 month old daughter to kids play at this pool and was delighted. It cost only £3 which is far cheaper than anywhere else I've tried. The cost is not the main reason however, friendly staff, good parking and a warm and clean pool are. Top marks, keep up the good work.
Fantastic experience: A well maintained gym with all facilities including swimming pool and group sessions. Nice friendly staff is another plus point
Fantastic experience: I could not wait to get back to my classes. As soon as you enter reception you are advised to wear a mask, the reception is protected with covering. It is easy to follow the signs throughout the building. The staff has made it welcoming great effort by everyone. I loved my Adult dance class by Sarah it was like being in a club- sober!!
Fantastic experience: Great little community gym. Really glad I signed up. Quite the experience swimming in the original Edwardian pool.
Fantastic experience: Community values, and incredible staff. We use it for swimming at the weekend. And the children go there for lessons, recommended!
Fantastic experience: Granddaughters love the little play area, needs some TLC though. some more nice plants n and maybe a little insect / bee / butterflies area to encourage children to go away, and grow there own plants at home. Just an idea. Maybe a bin in the seat area.. But it's a lovely place. Since it's been saved. Keep up the good work xx
Fantastic experience: Absolutely love it here, the staff are really friendly and welcoming. Really inclusive atmosphere. Excellent range of classes!
Fantastic experience: Really enjoy coming here. Wide range of classes, would highly recommend the yoga. Swimming pool and sauna good when it's quiet. Good value membership.
Fantastic experience: A great community facility at the heart of the Old Moat and Withington community.
Fantastic experience: Great gym, with fantastic selection of Natilus type machines and free weights. The swimming pool is possibly a bit more contentious. Personally I love it, as does my 3yo. It's very old school - changing cubicles round the edge of the pool, peeling paint on walls and so on. On the plus side it's a wonderful pool with a huge skylight running down the centre of ceiling, so theres always lott's of natural light & sunshine. The pool is always warm, which is also a huge plus! (There is another pool 2 mins drive down Whitchurch Rd that always feels a couple of degrees colder!). I would highly recommend, but give the pool a try first before signing up for membership as it possibly isn't for everyone.
Fantastic experience: Really lovely place. My daughter had a pool party here recently and the pool and studio room provided were brilliant. Great staff, great building with a great vibe.....we will definitely be back.
Fantastic experience: Love it here. The classes are excellent, pool is great (during quieter periods), what's not to love. Decent gym for the low membership fee.
Fantastic experience: Okay, it's old and listed and a bit crumbly in parts but it's got character, history and is loved and cherished by its users. Staff and volunteers regularly repair bits and it's gradually undergoing a Renaissance of sorts with grouting in the pool overhauled, new brass showers that the staff lovingly Polish, original tiles are being uncovered and restored. Seats have gone in to.the poolside and lockers moved around. There's a lift, various classed in various rooms and even a little book exchange. The staff are amazing and friendly and bother to remember your face and say hello. The new pool up the road (see my review of their general rubbishness) could learn many things from the team here. Sunday swims with our kids are fun and there are armbands, floats and inflatables out for them. Gym changing area can be cold in winter but poolside cubicles are a little warmer. Well worth a visit.
Fantastic experience: I have been using this place for about 18 months. Such a good variety of classes, so easy to try stuff out and commit if you like it. Its got a definite community rather than a corporate feel.
Fantastic experience: Only go swimming. Swimming pool is quaint, water is clean and a good temperature. Always a life guard on hand. Real range of people that go.
Fantastic experience: Excellent baths. The outside can fool you, I recommend going inside since the baths themselves are very nice. Large enough to play in and enjoy with friends.
Fantastic experience: Good prices. Nice clean pool and challenging area x staff are lovely
Fantastic experience: Nice quiet gym and baths, not busy and for £30 per month, you can't complain.
Fantastic experience: Best swimming pool and gym around! So friendly and is always a hit with the kids. Great for something to do in the holidays!
Fantastic experience: Love it. Great leisure centre/gym. Lovely classes. Not too expensive, friendly staff, nice facilities.
Fantastic experience: This place may not look the biz... but it certainly has everything and then some for a leisure centre. . The gym is super modern and well equipped. . The pool sauna classes are all first class.. but it's credited to Dennis and his team of superb staff. This place is not council run and you certainly can tell. . It's got a great community vibe with a common goal from all members and public alike to keep this place going and to help with its maintenance and any improvements... Well done Dennis and staff... if only all leisure centres had this vibe..
Fantastic experience: Amazing place to go for a swim. If ever someone said a place is swimming in history it would be here. They have updated and renovated much of the facilities whilst still keeping the decor and swimming pool as close to the original style including metal bar that goes all the way round the pool. If you don't want to change in the pool side cubicles you can also use the gym changing room.
Fantastic experience: We attend the family swim session which is good fun with lots of inflatables. Reasonably priced and facilities are fine. It is also a good thing to be supporting this historic facility
Fantastic experience: I Love this place! It's got a good gym, great classes and amazing staff. Most of all, the atmosphere is welcoming and very special in this commmunity spot. Highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: I love this gym. It's local, reasonably priced, and has a old-skool pool! The staff are helpful and it has a good atmosphere to include everyone. I prefer it to Hough-End as there are 5 TVs (instead of just one with football on!) and doesn't seem to have the muscle fanatics! Only criticism is that I would like more floor space to do sit-ups etc when it's busy. Loved the women's self defence classes recently too.
Fantastic experience: Had my swimming lessons at this place and they were great. Had a decent size pool as well.
Fantastic experience: Always friendly staff. The gym is tiny and can get overcrowded but decent prices
Fantastic experience: Lovely old baths, now run by volunteers and deserving of support. Fantastic children's swimming lessons with Natalie.
Fantastic experience: Well let say after 25 years of not being able to exercise or swim due to fibromyalgia and arthritis,i can now, only because at withington baths their pool temperature is that bit wormer, just showes what a few digrrees can do look at climate change ,well it definitely changing my life .not forgetting the lovely , friendly, approachable and overly helpful staff . withington baths have a great friendly, community atmosphere and probably due to its staff .thank you very much
Fantastic experience: This venue is community-run, and the people running it really care for this building. We regularly take our boys for swimming lessons here, and go swimming as a family. It's great to have a local pool, and to see this Victorian building being looked after and used still. There is also a gym and rooms that can be booked for events.
Fantastic experience: A great show of what community effort can do, watched this place go through a revamp and love the results. A 100+ year old bath, a great gym, and great classes also. I have gone to the boot camp on Saturday mornings and they are great, all classes i have tried have been so welcoming for beginners also.
Fantastic experience: It might not have the most high tech equipment but it has a very chilled out atmosphere and is totally non judgemental. A good place to swim or work out at your own pace. I'm enjoying my membership
Fantastic experience: Brilliant building, fantastic organisation, wonderful staff who all work so hard. In particular the centre provides excellent swimming lessons for children.
Fantastic experience: Highly recommended physio Teresa Barrett. Quick results must have magic hands, and has a wealth of medical knowledge
