CROSSFIT READING is United Kingdom’s most successful state of the art CrossFit box designed to suit all athletes from beginners through to advanced. We are and have been an official CrossFit affiliated facility since 2008, and are a part of the broader global CrossFit community.

Our facility is different to mainstream commercial gyms. We have minimal machines  as we believe in training you to move your body naturally, not move your body around a machine. We use Olympic weights and barbells, pull up rigs, kettlebells,  plyometric boxes, giant tyres for lifting, drag sleds, medicine balls, skipping ropes, atlas stones dumbbells, carry yokes and other equipment that teach us to move our bodies functionally (naturally) rather than teach us to move the way to a machine.

It doesn’t matter what shape or size you are because CrossFit® coaches people of all ages and abilities to improve their overall fitness in a fun and challenging environment. Get started by trialling a FREE session or by booking straight onto one of our Foundations Courses, specifically designed for beginners and you will soon become a CrossFit® addict!

The reason I love coaching at CFR is that I get to help so many different people and be part of an environment where individuals can achieve, get stronger and feel part of something. It is a privilege to be able to coach at CFR.

Being part owner and Director of CFR and involved with CrossFit for nearly 10 years now, gives me the opportunity to help steer our facility and community to the best standards we can in all aspects of our business. This for me starts with our Coaches. We aim to provide our coaches an environment of support and trust, somewhere they love to be and are able to thrive and develop as individuals. This in turn benefits our members who receive the highest standards of coaching and support to help achieve the goals that they may have. I am very proud of our box and I take pride in being part of this amazing community of coaches and members alike.

Favourite CrossFit Workout: ‘Cindy’ simple and effective (CrossFit in general), but I do have a bias to the barbell lifts…especially the Olympic lifts.

Being a member of the CFR Coaching Team is really important to me. Working with the athletes at the box on all levels is extremely rewarding, whether it’s mastering basic skills, getting more efficient, or learning the higher-skill movements. I love helping members achieve these goals in a fun way, as we all strive to be the best we can be in training and in life. I’ve been at CFR for 10 years now, and loved every moment

Favourite CrossFit Workout: ‘The Bear’ (a barbell complex) and anything gymnastics based First time I did The Bear I went back to bed for 2 hours!

Coaching CrossFit means the world to me. After years of running, swimming, yoga, weights and cardio globo-gym style, I found CrossFit 3 years ago and fell in love. Competing, in RCFR teams and as an individual, getting my first muscle up in 18.3… were all magic moments. But nothing compares to gaining my CF-L1 trainer certification at the start of 2018. I’ve finally figured out what I want to be when I grow up. The best coach and athlete I can possibly be! I’m so blessed that I get to share my love of this sport, lifestyle and training approach in such a great community.

Being a coach at CrossFit Reading is an absolute honour. It is easily one of the best things in my life and I am passionate about it. I love to help people reach their goals, whilst making sure they are having fun and enjoying working out. You’ll never have a dull moment with me, I like to mix training up and get people to try new things to improve their training experiences, things which they might normally think to try. I like to specialise in strength and power. I feel this has great carry over into all elements of CrossFit.

Fantastic experience: My first CrossFit gym and my expectations have been succeeded. The coaches are such pros and the community is so supportive. I really like the focus on proper form across all movements, as this was something I was worried about before joining. There’s also a range of different classes from WODs and Barbell to Gymnastics. Definitely give it a go if you’re looking for a new challenge.

Fantastic experience: I've been a member of Reading CrossFit for over a year now and I can honestly say it is the best thing I have ever done, it has pushed me mentally and physically and I am a stronger person because of it. The coaches are absolutely amazing and so is the rest of the community and I have even developed new skills since joining. During lockdown, CrossFit has been there for all of its members. Me and my family have been doing zoom workouts most days and it has made the days much more enjoyable.

Fantastic experience: Joined in 2019 and wish I'd joined a lot sooner. I've been a member of various gyms previously but this place is a complete different animal. Seriously high quality coaching from a superb team. A genuine community amongst the members and coaches. It all comes together to make everyone feel comfortable training, whether they are top level athletes training for competitions, or a complete fitness newbie who needs guidance and support. My fitness and strength gains in the last 18 months or so have been far more than I've ever achieved previously. Worth every penny.

Fantastic experience: Been a member for almost half a year now. I have worked a total of almost 5 years in gyms and I have to say this is the only one I will train in from now on. Amazing classes, amazing coaches, amazing owners, and above all amazing community! Couldn't recommend enough!

Fantastic experience: Had a free taster session they were running to see what cross fit was all about, there was a good turn out and the session ran great, the exercises are relatively simple but the speed and duration makes them hard. The class was ran very well, instructor explained the crossfit principles, I was sweating a lot and aching the next couples days (and I'm a fit person). I didn't join up as I thought £90 a month was steep. it's a no thrills exercise warehouse but it's more effective than a regular gym if you're serious about getting in shape, and I guess that how you have to justify the cost.

Fantastic experience: PROS: - big parking lot, - very friendly owner, trainers and people in general, - ample space to train, - olympic weightlifting area, - plenty of equipment, - have seminars every now and then. CONS: - location not all that convenient if you don't have a car (public transport is poor), - pricey compared to globo gyms, but they offer a different kind of service.
