Fantastic experience: This is a fantastic training facility, my little girl has been training at Thai Boxing for just over a year. Rob (teacher) provides a friendly yet professional lesson that helps to engage with each pupil getting the most out of each lesson. Rob is a credit to the gym and look forward to seeing my little girl develop under his excellent guidance.

Fantastic experience: Positive: Communication , Professionalism , Quality , Value Fantastic place to learn Muay Thai. Rob is an extremely knowledgeable coach who puts classes together in a thoughtful way. I've felt welcome from day one and love training there. I'm feeling fitter and stronger each week and leave classes looking forward to the next session.

Fantastic experience: My name is Rob Butterworth, and I am the owner of Golden Gloves Thai kickboxing centre. I have one (anonymous) negative review on here, and since the gentleman took the time to write it I feel it deserves a proper response. The gym is not for everybody, and I am ok with that. I never set out to run a gym that is designed to appeal to as many people as possible to maximise profit – there are plenty of places like that around already. That said, that review raises some good point which should be explained to anyone who is thinking of training here. “Kettlebells and pads one week, kettlebells and sparing the next, on a constant rotation. A bit more variety needed.” This is a huge dilemma in martial arts, and all physical training really. Too little variety, and you get bored. Too much variety, and you never get the chance to actually improve your skills and get good at something. Pad work and sparring plus strength and conditioning – these are the tools we use to get good at Muay thai, the same as are used at the best gyms all over the world. You may notice the other reviews mention how varied the lessons are! The trick here is that the people who stay a while start to see that every lesson of ‘the same thing’ is actually focused on a different skill, and every spar is a chance to develop a different aspect of the sport. “…the ring floor has all but collapsed in spots” Simply not true. But don’t take my word for it – I offer a 2 week free trial to come and see the quality of the training, and the gym itself, for yourself, risk free. I am not trying to trick anyone into signing up and paying for something they are not happy with. “Over priced. £60-£65 a month gets you unlimited training" He perhaps had a point here. The gym ran at these prices for over 17 years, and I would not have lasted that long if people thought they were being over charged. But the market has changed in recent years and perhaps I was a little late in changing. The current price is £40 per month to do as many of the adult lessons (I run 3 per week) as you like. Thanks for reading this far, if this sounds like the place for you please get in touch. Rob

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love Golden gloves thai boxing. I have great respect for Rob, he is a great guy all round and everyone you train with is very friendly and supportive. Rob is a great tutor; He will take time out to spend with you if you have any problems and will never pressure you into doing something your not comfortable with and give you alternative exercises if you are struggling or can't do due to personal or medical reasons. Before i started i had a few medical and phyical issues. I couldn't do a singke push up or sit up and I liked the fact that Thursdays was women's only class and under no circumstances did i want to spar at all. A year later through Robs coaching and guidance, i have lost over a stone in weight, I can now do 20 push ups and 20 sit ups, i have become addicted to thai boxing; I've upt my classes from once a week to twice a week, sparring with the guy's and my medical issues are becoming a thing of the past. I have achieved so much in a year, I am now looking to do my 1st interclub fight, which i would never of thought I'd be capable of doing. My little boy also comes to the children's class too on a Tuesday and loves it.

Fantastic experience: Awesome place to train, full of awesome people of mixed experience & abilities. The more experienced guys are really good for easing you into everything if you’re new to Muay Thai! Rob is a really awesome coach and just an all round nice guy, I really feel that I’ve come a long way in the short amount of time I’ve been going & I feel lucky to have found this place! So if you’re looking to get into a Muay Thai or just trying to get in shape and meet new people get yourself to Golden Gloves Muay Thai!

Positive experience: It seems the bad points I highlighted have been rectified, so a re-rating was needed. Glad to see the price has been adjusted, now seems very reasonable for the service/equipment provided. A two week free trial, awesome!! The gym also looks like its had a revamp, the pics look really good. My intention was never to bad mouth Goldenglove glove, only to give my honest opinion for people to see (one of google ratings primary uses), glad to see my previous comments had a positive impact. Would have been 5* but I feel more variety/classes are still needed to compete with other local Muay Thai gyms, maybe in time Goldenglove will catch up with the curve in this respect. Best of luck to all at Goldenglove, very happy to see Muay Thai gyms in accrington becoming more affordable and better equipped.

Fantastic experience: A fantastic place to train! My daughter comes to the kids class on a Tuesday, and simply loves it, borne out by here sheer excitement when I collect her from school that it's "kickboxing night". She has developed enormously over her time there, building up strength, control, technique, all in a friendly environment that still retains its challenging edge to push the kids to do better. So, overall, a great, well equipped facility run by a very knowledgeable, capable and invested teacher, what more could you ask.

Fantastic experience: Great gym. Highly recommend. Have been a member for many years - like most of the people that go here. The sessions are one hour long and as other people have said i always come away feeling as though ive really put the effort in. Sparring is fun and not too serious. The more experienced people will always look after the newer people and power levels are kept to a minimum with new starters. Training is varied between cardio, padwork, strength work, sparring, tactical strength challenges and more. Sessions are focused on specific areas in Thai boxing from week to week and then those techniques carried over into the sparring the week after. I highly recommed this gym. Worth booking a lesson just to try out.

Fantastic experience: Great gym, been training at Golden Gloves for around 15 years. Always a varied and fun session with a wide range of exercises and Kettle Bell workouts. Rob always keeps things fresh with work on new techniques to try on pad work and in sparring and always something new to learn and pick up. Highly recommended gym, give it a try, you will be glad you did.

Fantastic experience: I've been training with Rob going on 15years. Every lesson is different, from warming up and kettle bell circuits to pad work and sparring. Shark bait for practicing clinch work after 10mins of a kettlebell routine being an example of why I love the diversity of the lessons. I come away feeling like I've grafted every time no matter what we've been practicing! If your interested in contact sports or just keeping fit I highly recommend golden gloves Thai boxing!
