Fantastic experience: I’m only in my second week of going to this particular Pure Gym. I normally go to the Maldon one. This one seems to be very inclusive and very welcoming. It’s clean, well maintained, and the staff i’ve met so far have been very friendly and helpful. I’m yet to try the classes but i’m sure they’ll be equally as good.

Positive experience: Great facility but the classes are always packed and when you can get on them the class teachers are lifeless and uninterested. 50% of the time there is absolutely no staff to be found so if you have a problem there is no one to help you. On a positive note the cleaners are on it all the time! I've never seen such a clean facility. At the low price of £20 a month if you are a confident gym body with no need of help, a pool, spa or decent classes, it's great. However if you need a bit more guidance and a more bespoke and ranged service, I would go elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Ana-Maria was amazing (Shannon also very welcoming), made me feel so comfortable, showed me around and even spent a little extra time with me to help with my form etc, all on the Getting Started session. I've never felt more welcome in a gym, so thank you ladies, can't wait to come back.

Fantastic experience: First day here today and I am impressed with what's to offer. I'm on the off peak membership which is very reasonably priced. The equipment is plentiful across 2 floors and although it's not the biggest gym, there seemed to be plenty of space. The pure gym app might be one of the best I've used. It provides free workouts including videos showing how to do them. Getting in and out is easy if you just use the qr code in the app. I personally like to use the barbell equipment the most and found that some gyms don't accommodate much space for this outside of Deadlift and squats. Pure gym has plenty of space for this and the staff said the barbells can be moved into a different space if you need some other equipment too. The crowd there is quite young as it's right next to the Colchester institute but it was absolutely fine from my experience this far. The lock rooms have lots of storage and there's a bunch of well equipped showers. The space in the locker rooms is limited but I didn't experience any problems. Bring a padlock. From my day 1 experience I'd say that pure gym is easily worth the money.

Fantastic experience: Nice and clean gym. I had Coach Carl as my personal trainer and he was amazinggggg!!! From my initial enquiry, Carl was very welcoming and took his time to understand my goals and establish a plan that was achievable for me. Whilst I may not have been the most consistent client, Carl remained patient, tolerant and continued to adapt the programme around my schedule and abilities. With his help and continuous support, I was able to lose 6.6 pounds in 4 weeks!! Not only did he help me lose weight, he helped me to create better lifestyle habits and form better relationships with food. Carl is honestly an asset to PureGym and I would absolutely recommend him to anyone who’s looking for a personal trainer!

Fantastic experience: Good equipment. Often not overly busy unless you go 5-7. Even then, it's quite manageable and you can still get a workout in. Only 1 bench press for the entire gym though.

The staff are really friendly and helpful, which is a bonus after my partner had a bad experience at another gym, they made her feel welcome. 24/7 is really great as well as there's no pressure to get to the gym when you're busy.

Fantastic experience: Quiet enough when I need it after a nights work happy to still be training ....wish the showers were already clean at 5 am when they open them, should be open all night really for toilets and hand-wash facilities

Positive experience: Gym is basic and fair for the price if your paying the basic price. Staff could be more friendly. Doors don't always work straight away so I have to wait to get in and out also when your in the pod it can be very claustrophobic. I would like to see alder people in the gym as there are lots of students using it. If you pay for the better membership don't expect to get in all of the other gyms which is a shame, there is not really that many to choose from. Puregym policy on bag should be relaxed on people with medication which I need with me when I train. Now I have to have it on show with my stuff on the floor or on the machines that is not very good.

Fantastic experience: I've been to this gym about 2 or 3 times a week since it opened and I am loving it. Staff are really nice and friendly, equipment always seems amazingly clean. Most people I've seen there are closely following the governments requirements when it comes to keeping the gym safe and clean, which is a big must for me! 5 out of 5 would recommend!

Sanitising stations close to wherever you're training and staff very welcoming. Some of the negative reviews below are incredible.

Fantastic experience: Headed down to the gym to see for myself as some of the reviews here are 1 star and ive only heard positives from my friends and other gym goers where we are now . Everyone was doing their bit. Cleaning stations around the entire gym as well as on the wall and all staff were chipping away with cleaning (1730ish). Great tour from the scottish boy (cant recall his name) and will be joining when membership at other gym runs out this month.

Fantastic experience: Very clean and friendly gym. The gym team are constantly cleaning to keep the gym clean. There’s actually always someone cleaning when I’ve been there and I’m there approximately five times a week. The equipment is new and of a high quality. Changing rooms are spotless with showers that we can use. I’ve done most of the spin classes with all the instructors and they are excellent. The gym is now opening 24 hours a day which is great news! I cannot fault PureGym apart from some gym members not putting their weights back in the correct place......obviously not the gyms fault.

Fantastic experience: Reading these reviews in shock. I've been going to pure gym everyday since opened. Machines are very well laid out and cleaned. Also clean yourself before and after with wipes or spray and blue roll. Staff always cleaning and helping customers. Not been to busy and also can check on the app before going. Better and cleaner than the last gyms I've been too. So don't read to much into the bad reviews as I haven't found anything bad or unclean yet.
