The World Health Organization defines health as a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. 

In a world where the main focus is on treating poor health and not preventing it in the first place, becoming and staying healthy is beyond most people.   

There is more to improving your health than just changing your nutrition and exercise. It comes down to your ability to make and then sustain life changes.

The number one reason people don't achieve the health they want is down to not being able to follow a set of actions over a prolonged period of time. In other words, they give up.

People who do succeed are able to become highly consistent in doing the things needed to achieve their goals. They were willing to push through the discomfort that comes from change and stay on track long enough to get to the end.

These people don't have any special powers. They just learnt the skills needed to increase their habit consistency, received the right amount and type of support to help them stay focused and built an environment that made their journey easier.

Health Coaching will help you move forward in all aspects of your life, by teaching you the skills and tools required to improve your physical and mental well-being. 

Habits and behaviours have to be specific to your goals, skills and ability and you have to develop perseverance and a certain mindset to achieve a high level of consistency and push through the discomfort that you will experience from making the necessary changes in your life.

As a Health Coach, I specialise in helping my clients build, and then follow successfully, the right habits and behaviours required for them to succeed in any goal they have set out to achieve, and work with them through the difficulties and challenges that brings.

The pillars of good health are nutrition, fitness, lifestyle and behaviour. When all four are working in unison optimal health can be achieved at any age.

As your health coach, I will work with you in developing a very specific and personalised approach to the above areas, which you will find practical, easy and effective in implementing. 

By completing one or all four of the following nutrition, exercise, lifestyle and behaviour assessments I will be able to provide you with my recommendations on what actions and habits you can start following to improve your overall health and wellbeing.

The honest answer is, at this stage, we don't know. How our bodies personally respond to nutrition is very individual and unique, because we are all unique. What works for one person will not work exactly the same for the next person. And as we age our nutrition requirements will change, and therefore we need to then change what we eat. It is a constantly evolving picture. 

The best way to find what works best for you when it comes to nutrition is to try different approaches. I call this approach 'self-experimentation'.  Try different things, see what results you get, if the result is not what you want, then change what you are doing. 

It could be that you heard, having fewer carbs in your diet leads to more weight loss? Give it a go. If it doesn't work inside 2-4 weeks, then that approach isn't right for you.

As your health coach, I will work with you in developing your unique and individual nutrition plan. With my 20+ years of experience in nutrition coaching, I will show you how to improve your health through nutrition in the easiest and quickest way.

When we do find the right nutrition plan for you, I will then support you in keeping to it on a consistent basis. Because the most successful nutrition plans are the ones you can consistently do day after day. 

Exercising as you age requires a different approach than when you were younger. It has to be more encompassing of all areas of physical fitness than focusing on just one or two areas.

The two most important areas of fitness you need to keep improving and maintaining as you age are cardiovascular (heart and lunges) and muscular (muscles, ligaments and joints). 

The better your heart and lunges function the longer you can stay active. The more muscle you can sustain the less injury, aches and pains you will experience.

As your health coach, I will work with you in designing the right type of training plan that covers all areas of physical fitness, taking into account your specific abilities, skills and needs. 

After designing your personalised training plan I will work with you in building a strong exercise consistency. Only when exercise consistency is developed will any plan be effective.

You can try to consume a healthy diet, you can try and exercise hard on a consistent basis, but if you don't get your lifestyle right, you will struggle to stick to healthy habits and behaviours.

So as you can see, your lifestyle plays a major role when it comes to implementing healthy habits and behaviours. If your lifestyle is making it hard for you to commit to certain actions on a daily basis, then any plan is going to be harder to keep to.

As your health coach, I will work with you in implementing the right time management, stress reduction and sleep habits that will make it easier for you to follow the right nutrition and exercise habits. 

Anything that makes your ability to stay consistent more challenging, needs to be addressed before we can focus on following the right nutrition and exercise plan.

Any change is hard. Lasting change requires a certain mindset to get you through the challenges and discomfort that comes through the process of change.

Many of your behaviours are also influenced by your environment. The people you spend time with will influence your behaviour and the locations you spend most of your time in will also influence it.
