We cater for a diverse range of people, from occasional exercisers to international athletes. Plus, through the UNIversal Gym Scheme, we're able to offer our student Annual Gold Members gym access to over 50 universities across the UK*. And with low cost memberships for students, staff and members of the local community, we’ll make sure your health is at the core of everything we do.
Pay-as-you-go bookings for University of Essex staff and student non-members will be available for fitness classes, recreational activities and Active Campus sessions.

Due to the activities programmed across our facilities, availability for hiring facilities is very limited. However, for enquiries please contact [email protected].
You can book online for a variety of fitness classes here at Essex Sport, from freestyle fitness yoga to cycle classes. Plus you can book one of our badminton, squash or tennis courts. And don't forget you can also hire our fantastic new arena space.

Fantastic experience: This is a fantastic gym, very well equipped and never have to queue to use a machine. The staff on reception are incredibly helpful, they really go out of their way to help you and it feels like this is a huge step above the usual gyms in terms of how they look after you. Also very good value for money and lots of excellent classes and courts to book. A definite 5 stars with no negative points.
