Fantastic experience: I was a member of shaw Hill for numerous yrs always been a top course. Its actually harder and better now than when I was a member. Fully recommend course and clubhouse very friendly staff and definitely friendly members.

Fantastic experience: We chose this venue for our wedding and from meeting the wedding coordinator Nina the very first time we felt we'd made the right choice with her attention to detail and ability to listen to and meet our requests. The venue is stunning and helped us create beautiful photos, with the gold room offering a glorious setting for our ceremony. Following the ceremony we were able to relax in either the courtyard or the conservatory between photographs giving us the opportunity and space to meet and talk to our guests. The afternoon tea we had for our wedding breakfast was extremely good as was the BBQ we opted for as our evening buffet. The venue DJ guy Barker listened to our suggestions of music for the night and ensured the dancefloor was never empty. The whole team throughout the day were as my wife said AMAZING. The bar team had even created a Mr and Mrs cocktail based on our favourite alcohol for us and guest to enjoy throughout the day. I would strongly recommend anyone looking for a wedding venue to keep Shaw hill in your thoughts as initially we hadn't even considered the idea of a golf club but extremely happy we did.

Fantastic experience: Great 3 star hotel and facilities with great view overlooking the golf course. Vardens restaurant very nice as well. Minor issue with evening meal which the manager resolved quickly and correctly, well done to him. Special mention to staff member Jamie who dealt with us exceptionally well & professionally and thanks to him and others, as well as the facilities on site, we would definitely book to stay here again. Thank you for a great stay !!

Fantastic experience: On arrival initial impression was the hotel was a little tired as were the rooms. However, the rooms are spotless and very comfortable. The best bit was the staff. At breakfast because I am dieting I asked for a fuit smooth made with oat milk. Not on the menu but Sue was amazing and provided the most wonderful fruit smoothy. At our second breakfast she again went above and beyond by bringing in her own blender to make my smoothy. We had a meal in the hotel restaurant and Miles looked after us. His attention to detail was superb ever present but not intrusive. His knowledge of the wines was excellent and he made wonderful Irish coffee. I would highly rate the hotel based on the staff alone they were exceptionnel.

Fantastic experience: Our daughter and her husband had their wedding reception here on Friday. To say it went perfectly is an understatement! There are not enough words to describe how fantastic it was. Nina was just incredible to have as a wedding planner and from start to finish nothing was too much trouble. We had everything we wanted and more beside. Lauren and Tony were on hand afternoon and evening to help with anything we needed. The food was served quickly and seamlessly with nobody waiting whilst others ate. There were many comments about how impressed guests were by the standard of food and service. In the evening Guy, the resident DJ was lovely, very accommodating and created a fantastic family party atmosphere. The setting is just glorious and with the lovely weather we were blessed it was stunningly beautiful. Very happy with how all our wedding stuff was tidied away by staff and stored away ready for us to collect the following morning and even then we were not rushed out. We all enjoyed a family breakfast together after a very comfortable night and waved the bride and groom off on their honeymoon in a relaxed manner even though the staff were now extremely busy preparing for another bigger wedding that day. We true grateful to them all for making the wedding day as amazing as it possibly could be. Thank you so much to everyone involved.

Fantastic experience: I spent Saturday evening here in a private room for a hen meal. The room was lovely and bright and we were sat on a rectangular table that was set ready to go, a good set up as we could drop in on a conversation from pretty much anywhere on the table. The food was lovely. We ordered from a preset menu, I had souffle, beef wellington, followed by a sticky toffee pudding. Every course was served warm and was very tasty. The staff were attentive with drinks. Lovely place, would recommend.

Positive experience: A party of 11 experienced club golfers played Shaw Hill today for £25 per person. I called the club this morning to check the course was open following heavy overnight rain and more rain expected throughout the day. I was told the course was open and playable. Unfortunately this proved incorrect with many greens unplayable and some winter tee mats also under water. The duty Manager was unclear as to what action he could take when we complained about the course being unplayable on several holes and he said he would get clarification and respond accordingly. Bar staff friendly. Guinness £5.50 token operated Cappuccino £2.50

Fantastic experience: Excellent food and a very high standard. 6 of us dined last Saturday in the Vardon’s restaurant and as usual it never disappoints. My choice of a starter was scallops, a delicious main of brisket Wellington to the mouthwatering dessert. The quality and tastes were outstanding. The rest of the party also made excellent choices choices from the menu. Service was excellent and very professional. Highly recommended

Fantastic experience: First afternoon tea at this lovely hotel. To start, we had soup with croutons, sausage roll with cranberry and a fresh cheese scone. The main tiers consisted of four finger sandwiches that consisted of Coronation Chicken, Cheese and chutney, Poached Salmon, Dill and cream cheese. Sweets consisted of three tray bakes (Victoria Sponge, Chocolate Brownie and a meringue), there was a fresh scone with jam and cream, a pot of tea or coffee is included. My Mum and I have been here before for murder mystery nights, and the between-scene courses were lovely. Booking is required, the cost was £19.95 per person, and a £10 per person deposit is required over the phone to secure the booking. We would definitely come back again, the meals also looked very appetising. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Wheelchair parking and access is available.

Positive experience: Stayed for a night with my 2 young sons. The staff were very friendly and polite. Room was very clean and spacious. Facilities were very good. We used the swimming pool and jacuzzi. Hotel and grounds were very pleasant. The only slight and it’s very slight negative note is that some parts of the hotel need a bit of an upgrade/modernisation but all in all I can’t complain as we loved our stay and the price was of excellent value. Definitely somewhere I would recommend and hope to visit in the future…… with my golf clubs packed next time ????.

Fantastic experience: Mum's 80th, went here on Sunday with my family 21 of us in total. We had the three course meal option. I had the salmon for starters and lamb for main both meals superb then I had the lemon tart also very good. Overall the food was superb and enjoyed by everyone. Service was brilliant and the main guy who dealt with us was top notch. Would definitely recommend for family do's and for a good meal. We will definitely be back. Thanks for a great day. Fantastic experience: Very nice golf course. Our room in the hotel was very large but with insufficient radiators. However the staff were very helpful in providing an electric heater. Food was good with very pleasant staff. We will be back again.

Fantastic experience: AWESOME! It was my first time up North and this place really made my trip. Really lovely staff (one of them with fantastic hair). Fantastic experience: A treat for regular golfers. Caters for the occasional bad shot without a reload. Allows you to scramble and also rewards Good shots. Greens were excellent. Very enjoyable round.

Fantastic experience: Stayed 2 nights in a lovely bedroom, we were part of a wedding. Staff were friendly & seemed to be enjoying their jobs especially the younger staff which was lovely to see. The wedding went perfectly. Only downside is no lift so take that into consideration when booking a room. They have rooms downstairs.

Fantastic experience: Stayed in a deluxe room for hubby's birthday absolutely recommend staff are very welcoming food is amazing and the best breakfast ever thankyou Rachel and nicki superb service . Only critic the room was very dated would really benefit being refurbished, I did find a lot of dust everywhere and dead flies inside the window which I had to remove and also got rid of the dust. no tea or coffee you have to ask for it due to covid, the view from the room is spectacular overlooking the 18th green we would visit again though.

Fantastic experience: We went for evening meal. As per usual the food was fabulous. Everyone must try it. It is not as expensive as you might think. 3 courses for £25, you would pay more at a lot of pubs. The staff are very attendant and covid aware. Absolutely 5 star.

Fantastic experience: Today my mum sister and I went for afternoon tea. Delicious. When the starter plate arrived with mini soup, cheese scone and sausage roll we were only expecting cake to follow. Well, surprise a lovely tasty selection of sandwiches, and cakes arrived. Really very nice. Well presented food. We had tea to drink and there was plenty of it. Another pot for us. The staff were extremely polite and attentive. Couldn't have done anymore for you. In fact we were asked if we wanted to bring the remaining sandwiches and cakes home with us and we did. Great pm.

Fantastic experience: Had my wedding there 31st August and cannot fault them at all , everything we asked for was done and to perfection. The wedding coordinators made everything run like clockwork. The food was amazing at the wedding breakfast and evening buffet and service by the waiting on staff was great. I would 100% recommend this to anyone looking for a venue to get married at due to how well they ran it all not to mention the views and grounds themselves which made great wedding photos. A massive thumbs up for me and a big thankyou to the all the staff involved.

Fantastic experience: I understand the hotel is undergoing a refurbishment, all I can say is we were there 2 weeks ago, on a girls trip to see the Ladies Open at Lytham, then play golf the next day. I was in room 1 and it was large, 3 big bay windows overlooking the golf course. There were a few problems with booking when we arrived, but there were 16 of us. This was solved by ourselves. The staff were so lovely throughout, so accommodating, nothing was too much trouble even though they were so busy! The new decor was definitely my taste! The food was also good, catering for a lot of people means things can slip but it didn't. I will return, for a big party it worked very well!

Fantastic experience: Great place. On the arrival there was an issue with our booking which was our own mistake but the lady in reception helped us and organized everything vert well. This is very beautiful place with some history and great views. I would call it classy. The staff is friendly and the nature close by is awesome.

Fantastic experience: We treated our friend to afternoon tea here for her birthday/baby shower. The staff were absolutely fantastic. Nothing was too big of an ask. The afternoon tea itself is brilliant. Amazing value for the price. 100% definitely recommend... just wished I lived nearer so I could go all the time!!!
