Fantastic experience: This is one of the best gym experiences I have ever had. I have used top end gyms such as Nuffield and also the usual suspects in the shape of Fitness First and I can honestly say that the differences are refreshing. Firstly, this is a low cost gym! The old age excuse of cost goes out the window. If you eat takeaway food your bill in a week is higher than the monthly membership! In regards to membership it is on a rolling month basis with the option to pay just £5 to freeze your account if your away for more than a month and can't attend. The cost is £16.99 and there may be a small joining fee. If one of these gyms opens up near you the deal is £10.99 for 12 months so grab that if you can! With cost out of the way the next important things are equipment and facilities. Unlike Nuffield, Virgin Active and some of the top end gyms that have high tech equipment this gym is designed for you to work out and nothing more. There is no pool, steam room or a little bar to chillout after your work out. There are dispensers that sell protein shakes at a fair and competitive rate if you don't bring your own. The machines also vend towels, padlocks and water. The equipment is basic but with modern features. The treadmill for example takes your weight and has heart rate sensors to give feed back while your running. Should you exceed the max heart rate the machine slows and then shuts down and a message tells you that your heart rate is far too high to continue. The layout of the gym is designed to maximise space so they are plenty of treadmills, spinning bikes, stepping,rowing machines, cross trainers etc. The free weight area is one corner and has enough space for four separate sessions to take place. There are two assisted weights machines for bench presses and weight lifting. In addition there are pods of 2-3 machines that target specific muscle groups. This is all in a logical layout so that for example one pod can work out your entire leg addressing the different muscle groups. The next pod will then attack a different group of muscles. Included in the price are also classes or sessions run by the staff. These are run in the forth corner and run about 3 times a day. My only criticism is that there is no separate room for these sessions however after a few minutes the rest of the gym melts away to the instructors sessions. A big plus is that the trainers available on hand range in skills and discipline so if you want to run a marathon or build your core strength the advice is from the trainers/ instructors who specialise in those fields. Some final words. 24 hours. This is the period that the gym is open everyday unless there is a planned or emergency closure! No longer do have to wait for 7am to go to the gym when you have your session complete by 6am. How? Security! Each gym member has their own unique access PIN that they use to enter the outer part of the gym, during out of hours and the actual gym its self at all times. The entry pods are designed to allow only one person in at a time to increase the security of the gym. In addition the gym is covered with CCTV that runs all the time and emergency intercom systems are placed through out the gym.

Fantastic experience: Good gym with a big area and many equipment. Has toilets, changing rooms and showers inside. Would be good to have sauna. It is very crowded in the busy times (around 5-6pm). So you may prefer to go either early in the morning or late evening.

Fantastic experience: Pretty basic gym, large enough for everything you'd need to do as there's a pretty big variety of machines/weights/cardio stuff. Gets busy at times but you can track this with the app - anything more than 50% capacity and the bench/weights area fills up pretty quick. But for the price and location it can't really be faulted.

Fantastic experience: In a good location in East Croydon. Easy to sign up, easy app to download and use. Liking the entry system. Gym is spacious and smart. Lockers and changing rooms available. First time using a Gym Group commercial gym and was really surprised at the amount of machines and equipment available. Plenty of Lat pulldown machines which is good as they tend to get used a lot. Cable machines with a lot of good variety of different adapters. Staff are friendly and helpful. Dumbbells go up to 40kg, hopefully they will get heavier in future.

Fantastic experience: The best gym fitness experience without private leisure club frills. Clean, spacious with well maintained equipment and machines. A machine audit needed because some are not helpful - needed. 24 hrs access for great monthly fee. Personal Trainers Must set an example by Wearing Masks for covid community safety even when the General Manager is not on site (Delta Virus effection rate is high - mostly harming 18 - 24 year olds). Fantastic experience: I think there should also be plungers in the toilets. Fully grown men can't use the toilets without clogging the toilet. There may have to be announcements asking grownups to not leave tishew in the toilet floor. Say something like please be respectful and keep the toilets clean and put toilet roll in the toilet it's that simple.

Positive experience: So humid, maybe I just went at a busy time but didn't feel particularly covid safe. Would go back once covid is less of a problem

Fantastic experience: Typical The Gym. Basic with lots of good equipment. They know how to fill the weight area correctly ie 3 x bench presses and 3 x squat racks. Means every time I go there’s no waiting around for people to finish. I tend to go in the mornings and the app is handy as it tells you the current capacity. Staff seem friendly enough. I can’t argue with the price.

Fantastic experience: More equipment than you can shake a stick at 24 hours a day for 20 quid a month.... Can't complain really. If I had to pick one thing, it's that I've tried 3 padlocks and none of them fit the lockers haha :/ Save yourself the hassle and just get one sold by the gym!

Fantastic experience: I've been a member of the gym for at least 5 years. And I've been to quite a few branches. Started when we could acces all gyms at any time. Now you have to update it in account first. But still multi gym acces for a reasonable price. And this branch lives up to the expectation. I prefer to go just after midnight when it's practically empty. Having the whole place to myself.

Positive experience: The gym is better than the west Croydon one, however I've left three items in the changing rooms over the years and none of them have been handed in to lost property so I presume they have all been nicked. A protein shaker, a Nike dry fit t shirt and a polar h10 heart rate strap. Unfortunately there seems to be a significant amount of clients in this gym who don't really have the same social etiquette as you would expect.

It's always very clean. There are a lot of different equipment and even during busy times you have a place. The personal are also very nice and always ready to help you.

Fantastic experience: It's the best option for people who live in the Croydon area. No contracts, no cancellation fees, no high joining fee. It's open 24/7. The place is well looked after except sometimes for the men locker room, it can be smelly and dirty in the evenings, there is pee sometimes outside the loo, this is the only con. The staff is friendly, approachable, easy going and down to earth. I've been in more expensive gyms and the staff was rude and snobbish. This gym is well worth for £19.99 a month.
