Riverside Hotel Kendal

Fantastic experience: The hotel was easy to find and was located along the river as the picture shows. A beautiful, clean hotel in the centre of Kendal. Staff were friendly and helpful. We had a lovely breakfast both mornings and dinner on the first evening was delicious.

Fantastic experience: I took my girlfriend to Kendal for her Birthday, and we stayed here at the Riverside Hotel. The staff were amazing help, especially when it came to a few extra pieces I had requested, such as Cake and Chocolates upon arrival. The rooms were clean and well presented, with amazing views of the River Kent: no noise to be heard, except for the calm running of the river. I would recommend staying here, if you're in Kendal for an evening or two: it's by no means cheap, but there is no other like it!!!!

Fantastic experience: Lovely hotel friendly staff great location near to town which has wonderful shops, coffee shops, bars and restaurants. Nice gym and spa in the hotel to use when all the walking has caused aching limbs and a great little bar restaurant offering tasty cross the board menu.

Fantastic experience: Made a group booking for four rooms and they very kindly got our rooms next to each other. The staff were super friendly and extremely dog friendly. The hotel was comfy and clean. Couldn’t ask for nicer dog friendly base for our stay Kendal and will certainly stay again in the future. I left my earrings in a bedside table and they were handed to reception by the cleaning staff and they kindly offered to post them back. Thanks for a great few days!

The staff are very friendly and helpful, the hotel itself is beautifully set and laid out, with great amenities, the price is good value for money and the food is fantastic. Highly recommend staying here, it is great value for money and you will not regret it.

Fantastic experience: This was an amazing stay Room was cosy and spacious very clean. Homebase wase nearby and parking frwe 5 mins near homebase. Otherwise need disc permits. Desk chair and mirror was helpful. Lakes nearby and windmere lakes and boat rides 45/55 mins away. Nice local shops and pubs and gardens around the corner.

Fantastic experience: Lovely family room overlooking the river, staff are all so friendly and very welcoming, room service is incredibly fast, the lift was out of action one night, the waiter was puffed out when he delivered our drinks, 2 minutes after ordering!!!! Foods good, pool is good. Reccomend this hotel and would happily stay again.

Fantastic experience: Restaurant only used and rated: after a little difficulty making a booking by telephone, we got in late on Thursday and 3 of us enjoyed beautiful gammon mains - chosen independently, we just all fancied something we hadn’t had in a while. It was excellent, as was the setting in the Tannery bar, with it’s riverside balcony (although we sat inside). We only had drinks in addition, a combination of warm weather and generous main portions making that the wise if reluctant choice. Considering Lake District prices this summer, this was great value. There was hotel parking, which was free when we were there. Spaces were on the small side for getting in and out though! Oh, and it’s dog friendly, very important to us. Nice stroll along the riverside afterwards as darkness fell. It made for a lovely end to our holiday with just a short drive to our lodgings.

Spacious rooms, lovely staff and nice area too. You have cafes and restaurants including halal foods nearby. You can take an evening stroll around the hotel for a while through the old English town and be relaxed. The complimentary items in the rooms were really good.

Fantastic experience: Very welcoming. Located in centre of town. Corridors and bar a bit dated, but the rooms are lovely. Very clean and modern bathroom. River view very nice. Hotel is good about keeping your soaps, biscuits and hot drink supplies topped up. Most hotels don’t like giving free stuff away but riverside very generous. Free underground parking, height limit 2.0m! Recommended.

Fantastic experience: A beautiful place to stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were lucky enough to have a river facing room with fantastic scenery and even saw an otter one evening which made my week. The food was lovely, cannot fault anything and will try to get back there again in the future

Fantastic experience: I was in Kendal visiting a friend and we went here most evenings for a drink before dinner. Sat on the balcony and watched the river. The girl behind the bar was so helpful and pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. We'll worth a visit.

Positive experience: Nice place. Great staff, really friendly and obliging. Bedroom a little tight for space with extra chairs etc, but better that than none! Ensuite small but well fitted out. Ambience in Bistro could be improved with a different choice of music (!!). Pool superb, steam room is brilliant with menthol or eucalyptus infusing, spa is tops too. Overall experience? - great place to stay.

Fantastic experience: Really enjoyed our stay, the room was lovely and clean, lots of tea, coffee and hot chocolate available in the room, it was a bit hot for my liking but the did have a fan in the wardrobe and the window opens so it wasn't an issue. There is free parking, but the car park fills up fast, there is an overflow carpark next to the train station. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again

Fantastic experience: Stayed here for 2 nights..really lovely hotel in amazing settings on the river ..food was very good covered all tastes....room was massive .I felt that a bigger bed would of been better rather than a standard double..bathroom was tiny ..not much floor space to move about...but was spotlessly clean..staff were great and very helpful..

Fantastic experience: Beautiful location overlooking the river, we saw a family of Otters in there! The rooms are clean and spacious, Full English Breakfast was delicious, more than I could eat!! The restaurant has lovely views out onto the river. Well recommended!

Fantastic experience: Perfect Hotel in Kendal, the sanctuary is small but perfect for a little workout.. the pool is not huge or very deep but again perfect for a little floating session, the hot tub is amazing and hits the spot every time, the steam room & sauna are both perfect for a good sweating session.. only thing some saturdays its booked out for an hour between 12 - 1pm.. other than that i highly recommend this hotel as its got great staff and everyone is friendly. keep up the good work :)

Fantastic experience: Came here last Thursday for a swim day while staying in the lakes with friends. Got there around 12ish had the pool all to our selves for a good hour and half. 1st time swimming since my knee surgery so needed somewhere quite. Tried out the spa pool, sauna and steam rooms can highly recommend this hotel especially for the swimming clean changing rooms and polite staff. Will be back again next time I'm in lakes.

Fantastic experience: Exceptionally nice staff and a great place from which to explore the Lake District. Parking can be a bit of a bother, with limited spaces on the site itself, but there is overflow parking available at the nearby rail station. The hotel is clean & well managed. Although we didn't get an opportunity to use it (too much else to see & do) the fitness centre looked great too.

Fantastic experience: Me and my partner came on Sunday to stay with our dog. The hotel has a lovely setting right next to the river. Its beautiful when eating your breakfast and evening meal which we had. I recommend the rack of lamb and mint gravy, fabulous. All the staff were lovely and especially the waiting staff when your eating, they cant do enough for you. This is my favourite pet friendly hotel and i will definitely be coming back soon. Fantastic experience: Nice hotel recommended by a friend and it was all he said it would be. We had a nice clean large room overlooking the river, lots of free toiletries in the bathroom. All the staff from the domestics to Lilly on reception made us feel welcome, and the food was spot on all in all a very nice weekend and will return soon.

Fantastic experience: One night in June. Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful views of the river, from the bar and room. Roomservice food was superb (recommend the cheeseburger). Comfortable bed and clean room. Way better than other local hotels.

Fantastic experience: Few days stay midweek with hubby ... Nice location, staff pleasant, food nice, swimming pool and spa and gym perfectly adequate for short stay. Well placed for exploring the lakes. Breakfast is buffet and all you can eat so no cause for complaints, set us up for the day !

Fantastic experience: Had looked up restaurants in Kendal and had decided to give the signature dish at the Riverside Hotel a whirl. Local lamb. What’s not to like? Nearly very disappointed as the restaurant was fully booked, but it was suggested I eat in the bar, AND I was allowed to have the lamb which is actually only on the restaurant menu. Fabulous dish with potato, kale, cherry tomatoes and various mushrooms. Luckily I asked for it to be well done, and it was just ok- a little pink in places, but such fabulous flavour- you could almost taste the fells. Washed down with hawkshead red and a sticky toffee pudding to follow ( to die for especially as no dried fruit involved!), my trip to Kendal was made. Thanks to all but especially the Hungarian guy on the bar.

Fantastic experience: Stayed at the Riverside Hotel recently with our 2 children , after our car was locked in council carpark overnight and we were struggling to find somewhere to stay. Special thanks to Jen at reception who was very welcoming,kind and helpful in our time of need. The hotel was lovely our room was clean with more than enough space for the 4 of us. We had a lovely outlook over the river. Fabulous breakfast. And pool and gym looked great too. Next time we stay we will have to bring our swimming costumes! Thanks again. JKxx

Fantastic experience: Loved it. Called direct to book a room and got a great deal on a suite. Thoroughly recommend the Bellingham suite for couples, would also be suitable for professionals who want a little space. Lovely room with a modern, smart bath and shower room. Very clean and serviced daily by a very good housekeeping team. Dog friendly in the bar. Gym, pool and cardio suite included in the booking. Staff all very happy to go the extra mile to make sure that all of our requests were met. throroughly recommend and would stay again, can't speak for other rooms but our room was simply perfect.
