Freeman's Quay Leisure Centre

Fantastic experience: It's a decent gym and pool. I feel like I keep picking the wrong times though as it's very busy and in the pool that means people seem to get in the way. It's not the complex or the staffs fault, just a heads up to keep your wits about you while doing lengths.

Fantastic experience: The Freeman's Quay Leisure Centre is a Wonderful Leisure Centre. This is one of the best Leisure Centres I have used in my life. The facilities on offer are faultless. I have personally found the staff at Freeman's Quay Leisure Centre friendly, knowledgeable, encouraging, supportive & helpful afterall.

Fantastic experience: Great, clean pool and steam room. Staff very friendly and helpful. Have been to a few of Durham County Council's leisure centres in the past including my local one, Woodhouse Close, but I think this has been the best one I have visited to date. Will certainly use again when in Durham.

Fantastic experience: Excellent Sports Facility, with a good Gym & Pool. Although well attended, you can usually get to the machine you want with little difficulty. If any Students intend coming to the Gym, please don't disillusion yourselves....Texting does not form part of a Fitness Programme !!!

Fantastic experience: Nice leisure centre, very clean, the changing rooms are first class and clean, very helpful staff. The only downside and I am sorry to say is everytime I go there is a lot of people smoke outside the disabled parking area

Fantastic experience: Love swimming at this place normally it's lovely but sometimes gets spoilt by out of control teenagers who dive bomb and splash, swear at the top of their voices and take floats off younger kids, some lifeguards seem to be on the ball with this but others don't seem to care and it's allowed to continue for hours. Today although lifeguards shouted at them a few times they could have drawn a line under it before it was allowed to escalate and actually enforce sending them out instead of threaten then against n and again 15-20 times.

Fantastic experience: Two girls on the reception desk went out their way to help us when we needed help with the watergate parking over the road. Very grateful and lovely to see people helping each other out which is a rare thing these days. Thankyou very much!!

Fantastic experience: Visited for the first time today with our granddaughter. So impressed with everything; cost, facilities, cleanliness, friendliness of staff, ease of getting in (no booking). Loved it and would highly recommend the baths for families

Fantastic experience: After reopening with covid restrictions I found it very well organised. However their is a lack of information prior to going. If you have a lane booked you cannot enter the centre until that time. You also need to put your swimsuit on before you go as need to get undressed at the pool side. You get a chair to sit on and leave your bag on at the pool side. There are no showers available but there is toilet facilities. The pool has four lanes, a slow lane, medium and 2 fast. Swimmers swim in a clockwise direction in each lane. We got in the pool at about ten past and you have until five to the hour to swim. There is a number on your chair and you have to go to the changing room with the same number when you leave the pool. I really enjoyed my swim and every where was lovely and clean. I will definitely be going back.

Fantastic experience: For me the place is great. The staff are very accommodating and very understanding. It's a great place to train and socialise, albeit at a distance these days. A great facility.

Fantastic experience: How many things I could say about this place. Probably about 2 to be perfectly honest but wow the cleanliness is astonishing, you know when you walk on to the pool side there isn't that much dirt. Meaning there's a canny but of dirt. Otherwise the staff are mostly friendly.

Fantastic experience: A really good gym, not too busy and plenty of equipment. Recently had a refurb so all machines about 6 months old. Haven't tried swimming yet.

Fantastic experience: Used it for its pool services. Very clean and not too busy (although I imagine it's busier now summer has started). There are lots of classes available for younger and older people which seem to be well instructed. It may have more students during term time though so be aware of that because I know some people were saying that other pools in Durham were libraries in comparison

Fantastic experience: My wife and I are members at FQ, this is something I've been meaning to do for some time now, a big thank you and well done to all the staff who we encounter twice a week when we swim. That's from coming in at reception where their busy to changing room area where their often cleaning or mopping up to pool area where their always friendly and helpful. Special mention to the Management for their efforts with the Adult and Dementia swimming, and the children's activities. Some people do not appreciate what a brilliant facility they have on the doorstep, I took a friend there this week and he was more than impressed with the whole experience, expect him to take out a membership. Finally a pat on the back for the Manager who has in the past professional dealt with some of the moans we've had. He's always acted quickly and resolved them with good practice. Fantastic experience: Freemans Quay have great swimming pools. A big pool and a small pool but both of them are awesome.

Fantastic experience: Swimming there is a pleasure, plenty of changing room space and it has a steam room. The pool is also well maintained.
